Renee Garcia is a dynamic Communications Director with nine years of nonprofit management experience in development and communications, and eight years of creative direction and graphic design experience in the fashion industry. Renee was the inaugural staff hire for the Development and Communications team at ImmDef, where she aims to transform the immigration narrative in major publications and on social media to embrace welcoming immigrants with dignity and due process. She was previously the Development and Communications Director at ImmDef and has nonprofit experience at Southern California Children’s Museum (Executive Director), Latino Health Access (Grant Writer and Grants Manager), and Heart of Los Angeles (Volunteer Coordinator). Renee received a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University in Spanish and International Security and Conflict Resolution. She is also a 200-hour certified and registered yoga teacher and has been actively teaching since 2023. In her spare time, she can be found adventuring with her children and hiking in the Angeles National Forest.
