ImmDef Statement on Election Results
Los Angeles, CA. In response to the results of the 2024 elections, Immigrant Defenders Law Center’s (ImmDef) President and CEO Lindsay Toczylowski released the following statement:
“This election result only fortifies our commitment to continue the fight for due process in court, fair treatment in government custody, and the right of all those fleeing persecution to seek asylum at our borders. We believe Trump when he promises to enact disastrous policies that aim to tear families apart, destabilize communities, and weaken our economy. But the U.S. Constitution didn’t disappear overnight. We will use all the tools we have to protect and defend the rights of immigrants and asylum seekers.”
“The Trump administration will face an immigrants’ rights movement that is stronger than ever before. Together with our partners we are committed to taking on the administration’s white supremacist and nationalist agenda, to combat fear and hatred towards immigrants, people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and other marginalized groups. To our partners in the immigrants’ rights movement, we stand in solidarity with you. And, just as we did 8 years ago, we will do absolutely everything in our power to protect our team, our families, and our communities. We are not going anywhere, and no immigrant will stand alone.”
